Ottawa, ON – June 30, 2026 – The National Golf Course Owners Association Canada (NGCOA Canada) has released its May 2026 Rounds Played, Weather, and Revenue Tracker reports, providing members with continued benchmarking data on golf course performance across Canada. While the 2026 season has opened at a more moderate pace than last year's record-breaking season, rounds played continue to outperform historical averages, and revenue rebounded nationally through May.
National rounds played now sit 4.6% above the five-year average and 27.4% ahead of 2019 through the end of May, despite tracking 4% behind the record pace established in 2025. British Columbia continued to lead the country, recording the only year-over-year increase in May rounds played and its highest average May rounds since 2021.
Weather conditions were less favourable across much of Canada during May, with a national average weather score of 4.3. The Prairies recorded the lowest regional average at 3.5, its lowest May weather score since 2022. Despite lower weather scores compared to last year, course closures remained relatively steady across much of the country.
“While 2025 established an exceptionally high benchmark, the May results suggest the industry has maintained much of that momentum,” said Jordan Vizena, Managing Director of Membership & Research at NGCOA Canada. “Looking beyond year-over-year comparisons, rounds continue to outperform historical averages, while improvements in revenue performance and increased average transaction values point to healthy consumer spending as facilities move into the busiest months of the season.”
NGCOA Canada's research program continues to provide one of the most comprehensive collections of operational and performance data in the Canadian golf industry. Monthly reporting will continue throughout the season, providing ongoing insight into rounds played, weather impacts, and revenue performance across Canada.
