While Weather Challenges Tempered June Results, Canadian Golf Continues to Outperform Historical Trends
Ottawa, ON – August 5, 2026 – The National Golf Course Owners Association Canada (NGCOA Canada) has released its June 2026 Rounds Played, Weather, and Revenue Tracker reports, providing members with continued benchmarking data on golf course performance across Canada. Persistent inclement weather from Alberta to Manitoba slowed play throughout June, leaving national rounds 5% below 2025's record-setting pace through June. Despite the pullback, participation trends remain encouraging, with year-to-date rounds continuing to outperform 2024 by 4%.
Weather conditions varied significantly across the country in June. Alberta experienced exceptionally heavy rainfall, particularly in the Edmonton region, and the Prairies also recorded a lower than average regional weather score, contributing to elevated course closures and reduced rounds played. In contrast, weather conditions across most of the rest of Canada remained close to typical June conditions, with weather scores tracking near their five-year averages.
While transaction volumes have softened slightly compared to last year, consumer spending has remained resilient. Higher average spending per transaction has helped keep year-to-date revenue slightly ahead of 2025, despite weather-related challenges experienced in several regions.
"The June reports reinforce the importance of looking beyond year-over-year comparisons alone," said Jordan Vizena, Managing Director of Membership & Research at NGCOA Canada. "Weather challenges had a meaningful impact on play throughout the month, yet year-to-date participation continues to exceed the 5 year average. When viewed in that broader context, the data points to an industry that continues to perform at historically strong levels."
NGCOA Canada's research program continues to provide one of the most comprehensive collections of operational and performance data in the Canadian golf industry. Monthly reporting will continue throughout the season, providing ongoing insight into rounds played, weather impacts, and revenue performance across Canada.
