Director of Golf

Job Summary:
The Director of Golf is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the golf operations at the facility. This includes managing golf staff, organizing events, ensuring high-quality customer service, and maintaining the golf course to meet the highest standards. The Director of Golf works closely with other departments to enhance the overall experience for members and guests.

Responsibilities:

Golf Operations Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day golf operations, including tee time reservations, golf shop management, and practice facility operations.
  • Implement and enforce golf policies and procedures to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Manage and schedule golf staff, including golf professionals, starters, rangers, and pro shop personnel.

Customer Service:

  • Ensure exceptional customer service is provided to all members and guests.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with members, guests, and the local golfing community.

Event Coordination:

  • Plan and coordinate golf tournaments, outings, and events.
  • Work with event organizers to ensure all logistical aspects are covered, including registration, scoring, and awards ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote events and increase participation.

Golf Course Maintenance:

  • Collaborate with the course superintendent to ensure the golf course is maintained to high standards.
  • Develop and implement a maintenance schedule that minimizes disruption to play.
  • Monitor and report on course conditions, making recommendations for improvements.

Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the golf operations budget.
  • Monitor revenue streams, including green fees, memberships, and pro shop sales.
  • Implement cost-saving measures where appropriate.

Staff Development:

  • Recruit, train, and evaluate golf staff.
  • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for golf professionals and other staff members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Sports Management, or a related field.
  • PGA membership or relevant professional certification.
  • Proven experience in golf course management and operations.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of golf industry trends and best practices.
