Overview: The Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the golf course. The responsibilities include, but will not be limited to: Turf grass and plant material maintenance, property management, personnel management, budget and budget forecasting, financial management, scheduling and maintenance of irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recording and the compliance of regulatory issues. The Golf Course Superintendent works to create an environment where the staff are engaged, and enthusiastic by promoting positivity and safety. They will have open communication and respect for themselves, NCGA members, guests, and the property as a whole.

Basic Responsibilities:
-Responsible for all facets of Golf Maintenance and Agronomic operations, cost control, and maintenance personnel management.
-Works closely with, advises, and coordinated with the General Manager on any issues related to golf course maintenance.
-Supervises and executes the maintenance and repair of the golf course and grounds.
-Designs landscaping plans for facility grounds and is able to implement said plans.
-Administers and enforces all Club rules, regulations and policies where staff are concerned.
-Work closely with the General Manager and Management team to maintain the golf course in a fiscally responsible and professional manner.
-Must be able to work independently, be a problem solver and a self-starting individual.

Primary Duties:
-oversees the care and maintenance of the golf course which includes, turf, vegetation, and wetlands on the facility grounds.
-Manages a sound water usage tracking plan and irrigation systems and, provides monthly reporting on the retaining ponds, wells, and other water sources throughout the facility.
-Recruits, supervises, and has experience in staff retention. Conducts periodic employee performance reviews and performs the necessary disciplinary action where appropriate.
-Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure that staff are working within OH&S and club safety guidelines for safe working conditions.
-Supervises the maintenance staff to carry out the proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical power equipment. Plans and budgets for the additional or replacement of capital equipment.
-Supervises and takes part in the application and recording of chemicals i.e., fertilizers and pesticides on the Club’s grounds in compliance with the NCGA regulations.
-Directs and assists the staff on the planting of new vegetation, the replacement, spraying, pruning of trees and shrubs , as allocated for in the annual maintenance budget.
-Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses associated with golf course operations, including: payroll, supplies, chemicals, and fertilizers.
-As requested by Management, assists in the development of the annual maintenance operating budget and any maintenance related capital improvement projects.
-Maintains records, and completes the required reporting, orders parts, supplies, and equipment when necessary.
-Schedules maintenance practices around daily play, and any tournament outings or special events to maximize the disruption to golfers.

Knowledge & Skills Required:
-Knowledge of the management and maintenance of greens, fairways, roughs, tees, and bunkers.
-Knowledge of the use, and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance.
-Skill in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluation and motivating personnel.
-Has great interpersonal skills, can resolve conflict and work with other supervisors, managers, officials, employees, members and the general public.
-Knowledge of the safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products.
-Knowledge in the game of golf, the rules and methods of play.
-Ability to proactively determine the maintenance and repair assignments in relation to the personnel, equipment and material required.
-Ability and knowledge to manage irrigation patterns, drainage patterns, construct tees and/or greens.

Qualifications:
-3-5 years of demonstrated experience as a Golf Superintendent or 1st Assistant Superintendent.
-2-year Degree or Certificate in Turf Management (or related field, such as agronomy, horticulture, plant science or soil science).
-Requisite computer skills required for financial reporting, irrigation system management and other maintenance operations.

Required:
-Valid Driver’s License
-Valid Pesticide applicator’s License
-Prefer Certification by the Golf Course Superintendents Association

Contract Length: 12 Months
Part-time Hours: 40-50 per week
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Salary: $70,000-$89,000 per year
