Assistant Golf Shop Manager

JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Golf Shop Manager at Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club oversees all aspects of golf operations. Duties include: hiring and managing employees, accountability for the daily operations of the golf shop team, practice facilities, managing the department labour and revenue budgets, and weekly reporting to the Director of Golf.

They must be a team-oriented individual who strives to create a memorable guest experience while enforcing established company policy

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Promote a positive culture within the golf operations team and maintain employee morale
• Ensure all equipment and work areas are clean and all golf carts, equipment and rental clubs are in proper working order at all times
• Manage and lead the golf operations team (Tournament Coordinator and golf shop staff)
• Maintain the golf operations staff training programs
• The interviewing and hiring of all golf shop employees with complete reference checks
• Maintain West Coast Golf Group operational standards by monitoring and coaching the golf operations team
• Handle all employee discipline and coaching as required
• Work with all department leaders and supervisors to manage Occupational Health & Safety requirements and file all accident and incident reports when necessary
• Manage with the golf operations team work assignments and daily tasks at the end of each workday
• Ensure equipment is maintained per the schedule and that all repairs are documented
• Manage the golf cart fleet ensuring proper cart rotation and the presentation of a clean cart to every guest
• Prepare the annual tournament, golf service and golf shop budgets
• Work with the Tournament Coordinator to complete all revenue forecasts and ensure that the group and tournament revenue budgets are met
• Manage buying plans, retail inventory and create promotions ensuring that the annual revenue budget is met
• Manage all expenses for golf operations to ensure that expenses stay within the budgeted amount
• Approve all staffing schedules ensuring that the annual labour budget is met
• Communicate with all fellow Department Managers daily
• Check on inventories monthly to ensure that materials and supplies are available when
• Create and run golf programs for the local market
• Build strong working relationships with all manufacturers and distributors
• Ensure all employees are working within the Occupational Health and Safety guidelines
• Develop, monitor and ensure completion of opening and closing procedures
• Be continually aware of and maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene and dress
• Manage or attend meetings and training courses as required
• Any other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Golf Retail and Golf Service experience is required
• Management and Supervisory experience is required
• Minimum five years of golf industry experience
• Mechanical experience is an asset
• Thorough understanding of all golf service and golf retail positions
• Ability to perform manual labour for extended periods
• Capable of operating machinery and equipment
• Able to work in a team environment
• Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Able to work well under pressure
• Strong attention to detail
• Professional appearance and manners
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
• Ability to work flexible hours, especially early mornings

COMPENSATION:
• Annual salary range: $45,000 - $55,000
• Medical & Dental benefits
